Manage your home’s heating and cooling with our easy-to-use, touchscreen thermostat.
If your thermostat is not heating or cooling as desired, check the following items to ensure proper function.
Changing the temperature on your thermostat is a very basic function, and can be completed by following these steps.
The smart thermostat has the ability to have its functions locked – this can keep children or guests from making changes to the thermostat without your permission. There are two levels of locking that can be achieved. You can do a half lock that will allow you to change the target temperature only, or a full lock that will not allow any changes to be made whatsoever. Keep in mind, any changes made from the NorthStar Connect application or the totalconnect 2.0 website will override the lock on the thermostat.
For your convenience your smart thermostat can be easily adjusted from the NorthStar Connect application. To adjust the mode of the thermostat, follow the steps outlined below.
If your thermostat cannot be viewed from the NorthStar Connect application some troubleshooting will be required. Follow the steps below to troubleshoot the possible issues. Make sure that you can view and control the thermostat from the panel through the automation section. If the thermostat is not viewable from the panel you will need to add the device to the panel again. Contact Technical Support for assistance with adding the thermostat back into the panel. If you can view the thermostat from the alarm panel and it is not viewable from the NorthStar Connect application, you may need to perform a panel sync from the Total Connect website. In order to do this, follow the steps outlined below.
If the time being displayed on your thermostat is incorrect, follow the steps outlined to change it to the correct time.
There are three different modes to choose from on your thermostat: Heat, Cool, and Off. To change the mode, follow the steps outlined here.
By default, the thermostat will make a beeping noise when you press a button. If you do not want this noise to play when you press a button, disabling this feature is very simple. To do this, follow the steps outlined below.
The swing setting on the smart thermostat allows you to change the range at which the thermostat will allow the temperature to change before heating or cooling your home. This setting is helpful for getting the most efficiency possible out of your new thermostat. The swing can allow the temperature to fluctuate +2 or -2 degrees from the target temperature. As an example, let's say the target temperature is set to 68 degrees fahrenheit. If the air conditioning is on, and the swing is set to 2 degrees fahrenheit, it will allow the home to heat up to 70 degrees fahrenheit before cooling it back down to the 68 degree target temperature. This will keep the HVAC unit from coming on when it is not necessarily needed, saving energy, and money.
If the batteries in your thermostat are low, they will need to be replaced. To do this follow the steps outlined:
For your convenience, and to help save money on your electric bill, you can use the NorthStar Connect website to set a comfortable and economical schedule that your thermostat will follow. To set up a schedule, follow the instructions outlined below.
