How to test a Lyric (SiX) Smoke Detector

1. Place the alarm panel in Walk Test mode.
2. Go to the sensor that you want to test.

3. Locate the test button on the sensor.

4. Using your finger, depress the test button on the sensor until it has gone through three siren cycles.
5. Check the alarm panel, and make sure that the sensor has tripped.
6. If the sensor has tripped you have successfully tested your Smoke Detector.
7. Exit Walk Test mode on the alarm panel.

How to fix a tamper on a Lyric (SiX) Smoke Detector

1. Locate the sensor that is showing the tamper by verifying the zone number and location of that sensor on the alarm panel.
2. Place the alarm panel in Walk Test mode.
3. Go to the sensor showing the tamper.

4. Twist the sensor counterclockwise,until it stops turning, then rotate the sensor clockwise again until it clicks fully into place.

5. Now that the sensor is properly secured onto the mounting plate, reboot the panel.
6. Once the panel has been rebooted, test the sensor for proper function.
7. If you have followed these steps and the tamper returns, contact Technical Support for further assistance.

Moving / relocating the Lyric (SiX) Smoke Detector

If you need to move your Smoke Detector because of false alarms, or a remodel, you will need to contact our Technical Support department for assistance, as the Smoke Detector will need to be installed properly to ensure proper function. There are also some localities that require Smoke Detectors to be installed by a certified installer, in these cases a technician would need to be sent to move the Smoke Detector for you.

Testing false alarms on a Lyric (SiX) Smoke Detector

There are a couple of things that can cause false alarms on your SIX Smoke Detector, including smoke from cooking, steam from showers or baths, dust in the air from cleaning, or construction, even overspray from paint. If you are receiving false alarms on your Smoke Detector check that none of these things are present. If the Smoke Detector has been installed for an extended amount of time, you can also clean the sensing chamber of the detector by using a vacuum, or a can of compressed air. If you have checked all of these things, and you are still receiving false alarms on the smoke detector, contact Technical Support.

How to change the batteries in a Lyric (SiX) Smoke Detector

1. Locate the sensor that has a low battery by verifying the zone number and location of that sensor on the alarm panel.
2. Place the alarm panel in Walk Test mode.
3. Go to the sensor showing the low battery.

4. Twist the sensor counterclockwise, and pull straight down to remove it from the mounting plate.

5. Now that the sensor is open, you can see the batteries located inside.
6. Remove the old batteries from the sensor, by pulling them straight up out of the battery trays.

7. Now that the batteries have been removed from the sensor, replace them with two new CR123A (or equivalent) Lithium batteries.
8. Pay close attention to the orientation of the batteries in the battery trays. The battery will have a positive side, and a negative side, and the battery tray will have the proper orientation marked.

9. Once the batteries have been replaced, you will need to replace sensor on the mounting plate.
10. Place the sensor on the mounting plate, and turn it clockwise until it clicks securely into place.
11. Now that the sensor is properly secured onto the mounting plate, reboot the panel.
12. Once the panel has been rebooted, test the sensor for proper function.
13. If you have followed these steps, and the battery still shows low, contact Technical Support for further assistance.
